Past O'Reilly Scholars / R McGinley

Ruth McGinley, from Derry, was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance as a Solo Recitalist in 2002 from the Royal College of Music in London. She was also awarded the 20th Century Piano Competition Prize during her studies there. Ms McGinley is a graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance with First Class Honours in 1999. In 2004 she won the Tessier Scholarship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and has performed the Tchaikowsky piano concerto No. 1 and the Carnival of the Animals with the Ulster Orchestra at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, as well as several solo recitals. She is currently studying under Dr. John O'Conor in the Artists Recital Programme at the RIAM and has taken up a teaching position at the University of Ulster on the Magee Campus where she also participates in the "Ensemble in Residence" which involves workshops, performances and recordings throughout the country.
